The average supercar might not be enough for the most wealthy. The 2020 Bugatti Chiron is a luxury vehicle that offers transportation at a six-figure cost. The Chiron is almost $3 million and is as exotic as hypercars can get. The exterior of this coupe is fluid with squinting headlights and a squinting front end. Its standard 1500-hp engine gives it acceleration capabilities that rival a bullet train. Although the Chiron’s interior is spacious, it lacks ample storage and driver-assistance technology. Although the Bugatti is not the most practical choice for daily commutes, it excels at being a head-turning lust item and all-around performance machine.
What’s new for 2020?
For the 2020 model year, Bugatti introduces two new variants to its Chiron lineup. The Chiron Sport 110 Ans Edition, which is based on the Chiron Sport 110, was designed to honor the brand’s 110th anniversary. It has a two-tone exterior and accents using the tricolor French flag. These models are limited to 20. The Super Sport 300+ is also welcomed to the Chiron’s lineup by Bugatti, with only 30 available to the public. The 2020 Bugatti Super Sport 300+ is almost identical to the car that broke the world record at 304.773 mph on the Ehra-Lessien track in Germany. It’s powered by a 1578-hp motor. In the second half 2020, a handling-focused model called Pur Sports will be added to the lineup.
People choose cars like the Chiron because they want to make a statement at the valet stand or on the boulevard. The base Chiron is a great choice with its sleek lines and high price. This model is sure to bring a smile to the faces of hypercar buyers. The Chiron is equipped with full power accessories and quad LED headlights.
Transmission, Engine, and Performance
The 8.0-liter 16 cylinder engine powers the Chiron, Chiron Sport and Chiron Super Sport 300+. The engine boasts four turbochargers that produce a staggering 1500 horsepower and 1180 pounds of torque. Bugatti claims the Chiron can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.3 seconds and has a top speed at 261 mph. The Chiron Super Sport 300+ is a more powerful engine than the standard Chiron. The base powerplant is slightly stronger and this model produces 1578 horsepower. Andy Wallace was the factory test driver. The model, which has almost identical specs to the Chiron Super Sport 300+, reached a speed record of 304.773 mph at Bugatti’s track. Every model in the Chiron lineup has a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels.
Fuel Economy and Real World MPG
The Chiron isn’t eco-friendly, as one would expect for a car that has a 1500-hp motor. The EPA estimates that the 2019 Chiron will achieve mileage of 9/14 mpg (we hesitate using the term “fuel economy”) in the city and highway. This performance is so poor that it places Bugatti on the EPA’s 2019 list of the most inefficient cars. The 2020 model should deliver the same results, we believe.
Interior, Comfort, & Cargo
Exterior of the Chiron features a C-shaped design cue in its side panels. This element is also present inside the car’s cabin. This is reflected in the elegant curve of the partition that divides passenger and driver. Bugatti has outfitted the Chiron’s cabin with top-of-the line materials. The interior features space-age styling elements, which add whimsical charm. The driver is greeted by a flat-bottomed steering column. Bugatti claims that the glossy center console is made of one piece of aluminum. It’s important to keep the Chiron light. Only two cubic feet of cargo space are available in the trunk.
Connectivity and Infotainment
The Chiron’s focus on performance means compromises in the informationtainment department. The Bugatti is a racing car with the minimal tech content. The screen is not large enough to display information, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are not available. The car’s infotainment features are limited to a sound system, a trip computer, and some other basic amenities. The sound system is excellent and features four tweeters with a one-carat, diamond membrane. This ensures a high level of sound quality. This is what you would expect from a car that costs millions.
