2022 Acura ILX Prices, Reviews, and Pictures


The 2022 Acura ILX seems like a great deal. It has a beautiful exterior styling and a very affordable starting price. The smallest Acura sedan, however, is actually a reskinned Honda Civic from the previous generation with less desirable standard features. Its infotainment system is terribly out of date and lacks the sporty driving dynamics that we are used to in this class. The 2.4-liter four cylinder engine is efficient in fuel consumption, but the ride is pleasant and smooth. If you want something to impress your friends and neighbors, the more luxurious small luxury cars like the Audi A3, BMW 2-series Gran Coupe and Mercedes-Benz A-class, are worth the extra money. The all-new 2022 Honda Civic is a better value for money.

What’s new for 2022?

Acura’s smallest model is unchanged for the new year. For 2023, look out for an updated version ILX, which will be based on the new Honda Civic.

Pricing and Which One To Buy

The subcompact luxury sedans are at the top of their class, and the 2022 ILX is no exception. The optional Premium package adds leather upholstery, enhanced infotainment features and additional driver assistance. We believe that this option maximizes value. Although the A-Spec package might give the appearance of more performance, it only provides superficial improvements that don’t make the money worthwhile.

Transmission, Engine, and Performance

A 201-hp four cylinder with front-wheel drive is the sole powertrain. It’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Although the ILX isn’t the fastest car in its class the engine revs well and the transmission is smooth, it has the same character as the VTEC-powered Honda or Acura sedans of years past. The handling is composed and confident but not memorable. Road and wind noise are more prevalent here than in the Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz A class, especially on the highway. The Acura’s smallest sedan still has great brake-pedal feedback.

Fuel Economy and Real World MPG

The ILX has fuel-economy ratings that are 24 mpg in city and 34 mpg highway. This is comparable to front-wheel-drive versions such as the A3 or A-class. The ILX achieved 34 mpg on our 75-mph highway fuel economy route. Visit the EPA website for more information on the ILX’s fuel economy.

Interior, Comfort, & Cargo

Like other cars in this category, the Acura ILX’s cabin offers plenty of space for the driver and front-seat passengers but is cramped for those at the rear. The standard equipment includes a sunroof and heated sport seats with power adjustment for the driver and dual-zone automatic temperature control. The dashboard design is outdated in comparison to the sleek-looking screens on the A-class’s dash. Despite the fact that the interior cubby storage in the Civic is not as efficient as the Civic’s, the ILX boasts a large trunk which belies its subcompact size.

Infotainment & Connectivity

Surprisingly, the base model doesn’t have a touchscreen system, but all trims include an 8.0-inch unit with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto capabilities. Acura’s dual screen setup can be controlled via buttons and physical knobs, but the outdated graphics and insufficient menus render it obsolete in comparison to other modern models.
